WESTERN GHATS TOUR

The Western Ghats are a magnificent range of hills, rising up from India's Malabar Coast. The narrow coastal fringe is immediately succeeded by low, rolling hills which, in turn, rise up to huge, ancient rocks which form the backbone of the Western Ghats. Throughout these hills you find a cool escape from the hot plains below and they are scattered with small hill stations and breathtaking scenery. This meandering journey is designed for those with a love of nature and a thirst for discovery as it leads you to some of the more unexplored areas of the Ghats, hidden away in north Kerala and the southern reaches of Karnataka. Beginning in a secluded coffee plantation, high in the hills, you then travel deep into the jungle, cut off from the outside world. The journey would take you to one of India's foremost wildlife reserves, and slowly through the hills and plantations before arriving at the coastal town of Tellicherry. Travel down the Malabar Coast to the fascinating port city of Cochin and end with a few days relaxing on one of Kerala's glorious stretches of beach.

Day 01 Arrive Bombay

Day 02 Bombay / Mangalore
On arrival in Mangalore drive to Coorg (195 kms -4hrs). Afternoon walking and bird watching

Day 03 In Coorg
Visit Coffee and tea plantations. Afternoon boat ride on the lake

Day 04 Coorg/Nagarhole
Drive to Nagarhole (65 kms - 1.5 hrs). Afternoon game viewing

Day 05 In Nagarhole
Game viewing and search for tiger and other animals such as panther, chital, sambhar and sloth bear. Rest of the day free to relax

Day 06 Nagarhole/Sultan's Battery
Morning drive to Sultan's Battery (50 kms - 1.5 hrs). Spend the afternoon walking in the hills and coffee estate

Day 07 In Sultan's Battery
Morning: Trek to the famous caves at Edakal

Day 08 Sultan's Battery / Vythiri
Morning drive to Vythiri (50 kms - 2 hrs)

Day 09 In Vythiri
Explore the surrounding forest taking walks in the jungle, observing bird life and
wildlife

Day 10 Vythiri/ Tellicherry
Drive to Tellicherry (110 kms - 3 hrs). Explore the quite town

Day 11 Tellicherry/Guruvayur/Thrissur
Drive to Thrissur ( 200 kms - 5 hrs) enroute visit the seaside town of Guruvayur and the elephant camp

Day 12 Thrissur/Cochin
Morning drive to Cochin ( 85 kms - 2 hrs). Afternoon city tour of Cochin

Day 13 Cochin / Marari
Morning drive to Marari ( 50 kms - 1.5 hrs). Rest of the day free on the beach

Day 14 In Marari
Full day free on the beach

Day 15 Marari / Cochin / Bombay depart
Drive back to Cochin in time to boar flight to Bombay. On arrival transfer to the airport for flight back home
